Those days soon transpired into years of exposure from multiple genres ranging from Gospel, RandB-Hip-Hop to Classical, Pop and Rock. Yo Soy Eli started out as Lloyd Anthony, the lead singer and writer for popular gospel group “Lloyd Anthony and Eli.” Their Debut single “My Vow” broke over 100,000 streams in 2011 at a time when streaming wasn’t as popular.
It only seemed uphill from there until the passing of his mom in September 2011. Lloyd Anthony disbanded the group Eli and turned away from music as a whole. However, even though he stopped performing, the songs never stopped flowing. Each song now had its own unique signature and sound. Years passed and after many failed attempts to bring the band back together, Lloyd Anthony adapted the name “Yo Soy Eli,” (translation) I Am Eli.
“I always thought I needed my band and singers to do gigs. I would cancel multiple gigs because the band and/or vocalist couldn’t make it. However, a fellow Mentor, told me all those songs and gifts come from you…don’t stop..do it solo, YOU ARE ELI.
