‘Do You Want That’ is an open letter to our global leaders in 2020. The song was born from the frustration of two NYC-based artists (from Melbourne and Hell’s Kitchen) surrounding the 2019-2020 Bushfire Crisis, and the Australian government’s poor response to the catastrophe. It examines the increasing tangibility of our own extinction, and the helplessness we feel in the face of it. As bushfires continue to burn, this season has already seen the loss of more than 10 million hectares of land and over a billion animals. Several endangered Australian species are facing the risk of total extinction. Over 3,000 homes and 8,000 buildings have been destroyed. 33 people have lost their lives, and thousands more are currently displaced. The damage is unprecedented, and we won’t know its full extent for years to come. The Australian Red Cross is working to provide recovery programs and emergency assistance to communities in disaster-affected areas. 100% of the proceeds from the purchase of ‘Do You Want That?’ will go directly towards The Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery fund.
